What do you do if you want to shoot a night scene with clearly visible foreground, but you strongly dislike "blue hour" composites? To light the foreground during the night, of course. And if you don't have the moon at your disposal (which would decrease the amount of visible stars), then you can either do light painting (running around with the torch) or just set up a static light somewhere at your side and behind.
