Right Across

Something very mundane woke me up at 4 o'clock in the morning when I was camping outdoors near Whyalla... but when I looked up, I knew immediately what to do. A pool of sea water with this lonely mangrove tree served as a perfect foreground for a faint, but prominent Milky Way strip; and, of course, the scene wouldn't be the same without the Big Magellanic Cloud next to it. Try catching THAT in the Northern Hemisphere! And a crescent moon proved just enough light to turn silhouettes into objects.
